Municipal Projects Update as of July 3, 2025

Body

Hypoluxo Rd. & Jog Rd.

  • Formwork installation is underway in preparation for concrete placement around pull boxes.
  • Phase 1 work is complete, which included the signals at Cumberland farms, drainage repairs, curb and gutter, and milling and paving asphalt; awaiting confirmation of a final walkthrough date to close out this phase of the project.
  • The roadway contractor is currently awaiting pricing from subcontractors for the Phase 2 concrete and asphalt work at the intersection of Hypoluxo and Jog.
  • Concrete work for Phase 2 is expected to begin after the mast arms and bases are removed on the east side of the intersection.
    • Pole/base removal is tentatively scheduled for mid-July, pending temporary FPL overhead electric line shutdown.

Gateway Blvd. & Military Trail

  • Concrete work and corner widenings have been completed, are operational, and open to pedestrian traffic
    • Work was originally scheduled to begin May 12, but was delayed due to ongoing utility relocation work.
    • Concrete crews mobilized on June 2 and completed all work by Friday, June 25th.
  • Traffic signal heads are currently being realigned in preparation for milling and resurfacing operations.
  • Contractors to begin Phase 2 concrete work in coordination with the paving schedule, allowing a single mobilization to complete concrete and milling/resurfacing work at both Gateway and Hypoluxo in sequence.

Subcontractor scheduling update:

  • Paving subcontractor currently has this project scheduled approximately 60 days out (around September 2nd) for nighttime work. The original paving schedule was based on earlier dates, but utility-related relocations forced the subcontractor to shift focus to other projects

Interim measure to minimize impacts to the public:

  • The subcontractor has proposed milling the asphalt drop-offs between the existing and new asphalt to minimize elevation differences. This would allow for the removal of MOT devices and the reopening of all lanes sooner.
    • Temporary striping would be placed following milling.
    • This work can be completed on a Saturday, minimizing traffic impacts during the work week
