4-H Trunk or Treat and Open House
4-H is hosting a "Trunk or Treat Halloween Event" on Friday, Oct. 29 from 5-8 PM at our 4-H office parking lot in West Palm Beach. What is Trunk or Treat? During trunk or treat events adults decorate the back of their cars for Halloween, load up on candy, and come sit in a parking lot for kids to "trick or treat" from car-to-car. The event is open to all and people can just come and enjoy or decorate a vehicle of their own. All vehicles must supply their own decorations and candy to pass out. The 4-H team will also have some games, arts and crafts, and other fun activities for participants. We would love to have you join us by decorating a car or stopping by! Peanut Butter Contest
PBC 4-H is excited to participate in the UF/IFAS 2021 Peanut Butter Challenge. Coordinated by UF/IFAS Extension faculty and volunteers, the project was conceived as a way to feed hungry families ahead of the holidays in addition to promoting a Florida-grown crop. The peanut, which is produced mainly throughout the northern regions of the state, contributed $119 million to the state economy in 2019, according to the Florida Agricultural Statistics Service. Did you know that peanut butter is an ever-popular item in food pantries for its nutrient density and shelf stability? The project has taken on increased significance and impact to the citizens of Florida in the last two years as demand for food bank assistance had increased as an economic effect of the COVID-19 pandemic. Can you help? The Challenge always runs from Oct. 1 through the day before Thanksgiving – Nov. 25 this year – collecting unopened jars of peanut butter but you can start donating peanut butter as early as today. You may drop off peanut butter at the 4-H office our team will take care of the rest. Please share this with anyone else and let's show the state how generous Palm Beach County 4-H is! Here is a video with some background on this initiative as well:
