School Planning

Back to Planning Projects

Florida law requires the County and all but a few exempt municipalities to enter into an interlocal agreement with the School District to establish coordinated planning processes, and further encourages local governments to adopt a single agreement. As such, the School Board, the Board of County Commissioners and the League of Cities agreed to develop an interlocal agreement to meet the statutory requirements. The recommended final draft was completed by a subcommittee of the Intergovernmental Plan Amendment Review Committee, comprised of County, Municipal and School Board staff. The agreement was adopted by the School Board on August 19, 2015 and approved by the Palm Beach County Board of County Commissioners on December 15, 2015. The Comprehensive Plan was then amendmend to reflect changes brought about by the new interlocal agreement. It was adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on April 27, 2017.
