As a flat, low lying, coastal county with a tropical climate, Palm Beach County plays a major role in the flood insurance industry.  According to CIS, as of February 28, 2017, Palm Beach County has a total of 153,510 NFIP policies in effect that generate $60,981,192 in annual premiums, resulting in a total insurance coverage of $20,969,715,600.  Palm Beach County is among the top counties in the nation in terms of flood insurance policies in effect.  Following are some key statistics which reinforce this point.
