Promoting the creative power in people with disabilities
To VSA Friends and Supporters
My daughter Shakira and I, Amru Ramsaran, have been a part of the VSA SpotLighters since 2005.
I was sad when my daughter graduated from Royal Palm School where she was a member of the chorus, she loves to sing and I thought her days of performing for an audience were over. The music teacher, Andrea Hanan, told me about VSA and the program Kat Litrenta had for people with special needs which was a part of VSA, and the help she provided. Joining this group was one of the best decisions I have ever made. Kat is amazing!! I am continually in awe of the effort she puts into every member of the SpotLighters so they can perform at their best. Ms. Kat has that special “something” that turns any frown into a smile.
The SpotLighters allows parents and other VSA staff to help the performers with their routines. For this I am truly grateful. It is a pleasure to be on stage with Shakira and to lend a hand to these special performers. Shakira loves to be on stage with her friends and looks forward to the practice sessions each year. Thanks to Ms. Kat, the opportunities for the SpotLighters special needs group to perform in venues such as the South Florida Fair and other places is wonderful and a safe way to socialize.
I treasure every performance of the SpotLighters and pray that God will continue to guide and strengthen Ms. Kat for more performances ahead.
I would like to take this opportunity to encourage parents of special needs teens and young adults to become a part of the SpotLighters, a super awesome group and encourage all to support VSA!!
