There are over 5 miles of navigable waterways within the park.
  • Private canoes/kayaks - launch from Picnic Island

NOTE - These trails are navigable during normal to high water times. During drought conditions these trails close, due to lack of water.

National Wild and Scenic Loxahatchee River


Upper Section – Paddle under cypress canopy down stream then paddle back upstream
  • Approximately 2 hours round trip paddling time to Masten Dam
  • Approximately 3 hours round trip paddling time to Turnpike
Full River Trip – Paddle under cypress canopy down stream, continue past Trapper Nelsons to where the river opens into the tidal zone. Portage near the canoe rental boat ramp in Jonathan Dickenson State Park.
  • Loxahatchee River is 8 miles long and takes approximately 5 to 7 hours.
  • Visitors with private canoes/kayaks will need to provide their own transportation back to Riverbend Park or paddle back down river.
