Ocean Ridge Project
Beaches South of South Lake Worth (Boynton) Inlet
Mobilization of equipment began March 9, 2020
Dredging began the weekend of March 14, 2020
Work continued into April
The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers contracted with Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Company to dredge 475,000 cubic yards of sand from a borrow site 1,800 feet offshore, transport the sand to the shoreline via pipeline, and restore 1.1 miles of beach just south of Boynton Inlet. The widened beach helps to increase storm protection, expand the dry beach for recreation, and protect coastal habitat.
