National Ag Day logo"Food Brings Everyone to the Table"  is this year's Ag Day theme. We know that food and fiber does not just arrive at the grocery or clothing store or magically appear on our dinner tables. There is an entire industry dedicated to providing plentiful and safe food for consumption.

Each of us relies on agriculture for the very necessities of life. Whether it is cotton and hemp fiber in the clothes we wear, the pine lumber and paper products in our homes and offices, or the food we eat to nourish our bodies and minds, Ag touches each of us on a daily basis.

It is important, now more than ever, to appreciate the essential role of agriculture in maintaining the health and wellbeing of the nation by means of ensuring an abundance of fresh, safe and affordable fruits, vegetables and other agricultural products.

In the Coronavirus Guidance for America issued on March 16th by the President, agriculture was among the industries designated as part of the critical infrastructure to our nation. Here is a brief message of gratitude for those in the food supply network from the Secretary of Agriculture, Sonny Perdue. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AOGuTRViNCw&feature=youtu.be

National Ag Week is a great time to consider how agriculture affects our daily lives and to show appreciation for those in the Ag industry.
