Over the past few years, UF/IFAS Palm Beach County Extension has been involved with teaching upwards of 500 individual farm and packinghouse workers how to keep the foods we eat safe in the workplace. On the farm, food safety starts well before seeds and transplants even go into the ground and extends well beyond the life of the crop. Even after harvest, farm and packinghouse workers remain constantly mindful of potential food safety hazards and vigilantly defend against those threats. Here are some food safety tips consumers can implement once the food has made it from the farm to their table or kitchen. Have a safe, happy, and healthy Thanksgiving!
